I recently picked up my first Factor 2 base layer, and it’s fantastic. I was drawn in by a Black Friday deal, but honestly, if I needed another, I wouldn’t think twice about paying full price.

I’ve worn it about five or six times now. It’s as warm as you’d expect, but it wicks moisture way better than I thought and dries super fast. I have an older Factor 2 top (maybe five years old), and the new one fits completely different and performs way better.

I’ve been using Sub Zero base layers for years and always thought the Factor 1s were top-notch, but I was worried the new Factor 2 would be too bulky for mountain biking. Turns out, it’s been awesome. Today, I rode with it under a shell jacket in around 0 degrees, and it was just right.

From what I’ve seen, Sub Zero products outlast any other base layers I’ve tried, provide better temperature control whether I’m running or biking, wash up nicely without any special care, and dry quickly.

I’ve tried other brands claiming to be ethical or sustainable, but my Sub Zero layers are made in the UK and have outlasted tons of the so-called “pub wear” or cycling-specific gear that ended up in the trash.

The Sub Zero Kit is truly fantastic. I've got some gear that I've been using for more than two decades. When I wear the Onesie and the goose down jacket beneath my goretex motorbike gear, nothing beats it for warmth. Plus, the communication was top-notch, especially with the ongoing Royal Mail problems.
